Page SectionsOur office at Room 601 in City Hall is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Constituents most commonly visit the City of Boston City Clerk to file for a business certificate, domestic partnership, raffle, or notarized document.
Please note : The following are NOT reasons to visit the City Clerk's Office:
Contact the Registry Department if you want to file for a marriage license or have requests for birth and death certificates. You can contact the department at 617-635-4175 or registry@boston.gov.
When filing a claim for injuries or damages related to roadway and sidewalk defects, the City must receive the claim within 30 days of the incident (MGL Chapter 84). Print the claim form along with any related information and documentation. Complete and sign the claim form, and attach any relevant documents. Remember to include a check or money order of $15 for the filing fee, made payable to the City of Boston.
